Can you imagine how life would be without light bulb? We must be thankful to the light bulb inventors, like Thomas Alva Edison. Indeed, there were a lot of light bulb inventors in the world. Hence, you might be mesmerized in finding out people who contributed our easy life today.

It is true that the Electric light was developed by Thomas Alva Edison in 1879 as we think. Nevertheless, it does not mean that he was the primary and the only one who tried to create an incandescent light bulb. Experiments had been performed by a lot of persons before Edison introduced his invention to the world. They were James Prescott Joule, Frederick de Moleyns, Warren De la Rue, Sir Humphfrey Davy, and a great deal of others.

By the 1879, gas lighting became widely known and esteemed that business on formulating such lighting was promising. Incandescent lamp was generated by utilizing electricity to heat the filament, a thin strip of material. The filament necessitated to get hot sufficient to glow. Those inventors had performed a heap of experiments to gain perfective incandescent lamps. They tried to ‘divide’ the electric light that they were not too bright if the light was applied in little areas, like rooms in houses. The existent arc lamps were considered inefficient as the inventors tried to make the light littler and weaker.

By the year 1878 up to 1892, electric light became ordinary that industries on fabricating this device were growing and profitable. Then Tomas Alva Edison and George Westinghouse decisive to take control the industry of electric light. Both of them founded the Board of Patent Control, an arrangement amongst two companies, the General Electric and the Westinghouse Company. This arrangement was meant to protect the patents of those companies in judicial proceeding.

United States Electric Lighting Company founded by Hiram Maxim then became Edison’s competitor. Maxim had patented a carbon-filament lamp which resembles what Edison had developed in 1879. Around January 1882, an employee of USEL, Lewis Latimer gained a patent for the “Process of Manufacturing Carbons” for the technique which was more innovative than one formulated by Edison. The gain is that the technique developed longer lasting light bulbs. Thus, it is a brief story on light bulb. We hope it is utile for you.
