For the woman who is in her fifties and over, the aging routine is more noticeable. Firstly with your hair and then your face. As cell regeneration slows it is routine our skin becomes paler and looses the shine we had in our youth. Grey hair may fabricate an effect where on basi inspection you believe you are thinning on top of your head and going bald. This is a natural reaction as the grey colour brings about this effect.

Modern hairstyling proficiencies include cutting styles and colouring of the hair. With long grey hair it will become straight and look thin so a shorter haircut will provide more body as the weight is removed. Choosing a hair colour that is one shade lighter then your natural hair colour will blend with your paler skin and will not be so noticeable.

Using a technique called low-lighting may dramatically change the way you look. This technique is applied by a hairstylist who will have various shades of your natural hair colour ready to dye each grey strand. The technique is gathering a division of the grey hair and applying a shade of the colour to each section that will result in an all over blending.

The hairstylist will colour up to ninety percent if not all of the grey hair. As each division or strands are coloured with a dissimilar shade the overall effect will be that it mixes together to look natural. No one will say to you that they love your new colour as they will not observe any dissimilar other than you look fabulous.

When using low-lights a permanent colour is used and this means you will need a touch up each eight to twelve weeks, depending on how well you have been looking after your hair.

If you want to be more adventurous then cover up grey hair with bold rich colours such as copper or copper-gold for that wow element that will get you noticed.

CHAPTER ONE
 
I scowl with feeling of annoyance at being hindered or criticized at myself in the mirror. Damn my hair—it just won’t behave, and damn Katherine Kavanagh for being ill and subjecting me to this ordeal. I will have to be studying for my final exams, which are next week, yet here I am attempting to brush my hair into submission. I must not sleep with it wet. I ought to not sleep with it wet. Reciting this mantra assorted times, I attempt, once more, to fetch it underneath control with the brush. I roll my eyes in exasperation and look with fixed eyes at the pale, brown-haired girl with blue eyes too huge for her face staring back at me, and give up. My only option is to restrain my wayward hair in a ponytail and hope that I look semi-presentable.
 
Kate is my roommate, and she has chosen today of all days to succumb to the flu. Therefore, she cannot attend the consultation she’d arranged to do, with a great deal of mega-industrialist tycoon I’ve never heard of, for the student newspaper. So I have been volunteered. I have final exams to cram for and one essay to finish, and I’m supposed to be working this afternoon, but no—today I have to drive 165 miles to downtown Seattle in order to meet the enigmatic CEO of Grey Enterprises Holdings, Inc. As an particular enterpriser and major benefactor of our university, his time is extraordinarily precious—much more precious than mine—but he has granted Kate an interview. A real coup, she tells me. Damn her extracurricular activities.
 
Kate is huddled on the couch in the living room.
 
“Ana, I’m sorry. It took me nine months to get this interview. It will take another six to reschedule, and we’ll both have graduated by then. As the editor, I can’t blow this off. Please,” Kate begs me in her rasping, sore throat voice. How does she do it? Even ill she looks gamine and gorgeous, strawberry blond hair in place and green eyes bright, though now red rimmed and runny. I ignore my pang of unwelcome sympathy.
 
“Of course I’ll go, Kate. You will have to get back to bed. Would you like a heap of NyQuil or Tylenol?”
 
“NyQuil, please. Here are the questions and my digital recorder. Just press record here. Make notes, I’ll transcribe it all.”
 
“I know not one thing in regards to him,” I murmur, attempting and failing to suppress my rising panic.
 
“The questions will see you through. Go. It’s a long drive. I don’t want you to be late.”
 
“Okay, I’m going. Get back to bed. I made you some soup to heat up later.” I look with fixed eyes at her fondly. Only for you, Kate, would I do this.
 
“I will. Good luck. And thanks, Ana—as usual, you’re my lifesaver.”
 
Gathering my backpack, I smile wryly at her, then head out the door to the car. I cannot believe I have let Kate talk me into this. But then Kate may talk anybody into anything. She’ll make an special journalist. She’s articulate, strong, persuasive, argumentative, beautiful—and she’s my dearest, dearest friend.
 
 
The roads are clear as I set off from Vancouver, Washington, toward Interstate 5. It’s early, and I don’t have to be in Seattle until two this afternoon. Fortunately, Kate has lent me her sporty Mercedes CLK. I’m not sure Wanda, my old VW Beetle, would make the journeying in time. Oh, the Merc is a fun drive, and the miles slip away as I hit the pedal to the metal.
 
My destination is the headquarters of Mr. Grey’s global enterprise. It’s a big twenty-story office building, all curved glass and steel, an architect’s utilitarian fantasy, with GREY HOUSE written discreetly in steel over the glass front doors. It’s a quarter to two when I arrive, mainly relieved that I’m not late as I walk into the enormous—and frankly intimidating—glass, steel, and white sandstone lobby.
 
Behind the solid sandstone desk, a very attractive, groomed, blonde young woman smiles enjoyably at me. She’s wearing the sharpest charcoal suit jacket and white shirt I have ever seen. She looks immaculate.
 
“I’m here to see Mr. Grey. Anastasia Steele for Katherine Kavanagh.”
 
“Excuse me one moment, Miss Steele.” She arches her eyebrow as I stand self-consciously before her. I’m beginning to wish I’d borrowed one of Kate’s formal blazers rather than worn my navy-blue jacket. I have made an crusade and worn my one and only skirt, my sensible brown knee-length boots, and a blue sweater. For me, this is smart. I tuck one of the escaped tendrils of my hair behind my ear as I pretend she doesn’t intimidate me.
 
“Miss Kavanagh is expected. Please sign in here, Miss Steele. You’ll want the last elevator on the right, press for the twentieth floor.” She smiles kindly at me, amused no doubt, as I sign in.
 
She hands me a security pass that has “visitor” very with resolute determination stamped on the front. I can’t help my smirk. Surely it’s apparent that I’m just visiting. I don’t fit in here at all. Nothing changes. I inwardly sigh. Thanking her, I walk over to the bank of elevators and past the two security men who are both far more smartly dressed than I am in their well-cut black suits.
 
The elevator whisks me at terminal velocity to the twentieth floor. The doors slide open, and I’m in another huge lobby—again all glass, steel, and white sandstone. I’m confronted by another desk of sandstone and another young blonde woman, this time dressed impeccably in black and white, who rises to greet me.
 
“Miss Steele, could you wait here, please?” She points to a seated area of white leather chairs.
 
Behind the leather chairs is a extensive glass-walled meeting room with an evenly extensive dark wood table and at least twenty sameness chairs around it. Beyond that, there is a floor-to-ceiling window with a view of the Seattle skyline that looks out through the city toward the Sound. It’s a stunning vista, and I’m momentarily paralyzed by the view. Wow.
 
I sit down, fish the questions from my backpack, and go through them, inwardly cursing Kate for not supplying me with a brief biography. I recognise not one thing regarding this man I’m in regards to to interview. He could be ninety or he could be thirty. The uncertainty is galling, and my nerves resurface, making me fidget. I’ve never been comfortable with one-on-one interviews, preferring the anonymity of a group discussion where I may sit inconspicuously at the back of the room. To be honest, I prefer my own company, reading a classic British novel, curled up in a chair in the campus library. Not sitting twitching nervously in a colossal glass-and-stone edifice.
 
I roll my eyes at myself. Get a grip, Steele. Judging from the building, which is too clinical and modern, I guess Grey is in his forties: fit, tanned, and fair-haired to match the rest of the personnel.
 
Another elegant, flawlessly dressed blonde comes out of a huge door to the right. What is it with all the immaculate blondes? It’s like Stepford here. Taking a deep breath, I stand up.
 
“Miss Steele?” the latest blonde asks.
 
“Yes,” I croak, and clear my throat. “Yes.” There, that sounded more confident.
 
“Mr. Grey will see you in a moment. May I take your jacket?”
 
“Oh, please.” I struggle out of the jacket.
 
“Have you been offered any refreshment?”
 
“Um—no.” Oh dear, is Blonde Number One in trouble?
 
Blonde Number Two frowns and eyes the young woman at the desk.
“Would you like tea, coffee, water?” she asks, turning her attention back to me.
 
“A glass of water. Thank you,” I murmur.
 
“Olivia, please fetch Miss Steele a glass of water.” Her voice is stern. Olivia scoots up and scurries to a door on the other side of the foyer.
 
“My apologies, Miss Steele, Olivia is our new intern. Please be seated. Mr. Grey will be another five minutes.”
 
Olivia returns with a glass of iced water.
 
“Here you go, Miss Steele.”
 
“Thank you.”
 
Blonde Number Two marches over to the big desk, her heels clicking and echoing on the sandstone floor. She sits down, and they both carry on their work.
 
Perhaps Mr. Grey insists on all his laborers being blonde. I’m marveling idly if that’s legal, when the office door opens and a tall, elegantly dressed, beautiful African American man with short dreads exits. I have unquestionably worn the faulty clothes.
 
He turns and says through the door, “Golf this week, Grey?”
 
I don’t listen the reply. He turns, sees me, and smiles, his dark eyes crinkling at the corners. Olivia has jumped up and called the elevator. She seems to excel at jumping from her seat. She’s more nervous than me!
 
“Good afternoon, ladies,” he says as he departs through the sliding door.
 
“Mr. Grey will see you now, Miss Steele. Do go through,” Blonde Number Two says. I stand rather shakily, attempting to suppress my nerves. Gathering up my backpack, I abandon my glass of water and make my way to the partially open door.
 
“You don’t need to knock—just go in.” She smiles kindly.
 
I push open the door and stumble through, tripping over my own feet and falling headfirst into the office.

An older man on truckling

First, a disclaimer. I am a male senior citizen, a semi-retired gynecologist whose customary literary fare is spy novels and military techno-thrillers. I have never read a romance before, except perhaps for junior high’s “A Tale of Two Cities” (or was that a classic?) But after the recent hullabaloo over James’ “Fifty Shades,” I opted to give the genre a glance.

The book’s protagonist is college student Anastasia, who has never had sex or even “touched herself.” I had to suspend disbelief at the social and sexual naivete of this twenty-one year-old, but I guess this implied vulnerability makes her more attractive as a romantic heroine. Yet it doesn’t take her long to rectify this situation, and soon she is having orgasm after orgasm at the behest of her “dominant” partner, Mr. Grey. At my age, my arthritis flared up just reading about Ana’s sexual gymnastics. And for some reason, I kept thinking about her contracting genital warts. Soon, however, Ana’s endless pyrotechnic climaxes resembled repetitively watching porn: after a while, it leaves me bored and yawning. That said, there was a definite infectiousness to the plot; and taking Viagra to stiffen my resolve, I persevered.

James’ strong suit is her ability to elicit sympathy in the protagonist. I wanted to find out what happened to Anastasia, and that lent the story a compelling, page-turning quality. James is a polished novelist. Her dialogue is crisp, her prose poised, and her paragraphs well-parsed. The author’s considerable skills notwithstanding, would I pick up an erotic romance like this again? Probably not.

But that’s just me.

Bestseller? Really???

I enjoy erotica and heard so much about this book that I had to give it a shot, but I’m five chapters in and just can’t take it anymore. This has to be the most appallingly atrocious writing I’ve ever seen in a major release. The pseudonymous British author sets the action (such as it is) in Washington State… for no reason than that her knowledge of America apparently consists of what she read in “Twilight”… but the entire first-person narrative is filled with Britishisms. How many American college students do you know who talk about “prams” and “ringing” someone on the phone? And the author’s geography sounds like she put together a jigsaw puzzle of the Pacific Northwest while drunk and ended up with several pieces in the wrong place.

And oh, the repetition…and the repetition…and the repetition. I’m convinced the author has a computer macro that she hits to insert one of her limited repertoire of facial expressions whenever she needs one. According to my Kindle search function, characters roll their eyes 41 times, Ana bites her lip 35 times, Christian’s lips “quirk up” 16 times, Christian “cocks his head to one side” 17 times, characters “purse” their lips 15 times, and characters raise their eyebrows a whopping 50 times. Add to that 80 references to Ana’s anthropomorphic “subconscious” (which also rolls its eyes and purses its lips, by the way), 58 references to Ana’s “inner goddess,” and 92 repetitions of Ana saying some form of “oh crap” (which, depending on the severity of the circumstances, can be intensified to “holy crap,” “double crap,” or the ultimate “triple crap”). And this is only part one of a trilogy…

If I wrote like that, I’d use a pseudonym too.

Like some other reviewers, what I find terribly depressing is that this is a runaway bestseller and the movie rights are expected to sell for up to $5 million. There are so many highly talented writers in the genre… and erotica is so much more erotic when the author has a command of the language and can make you care about the characters. For examples, check out the “Beauty” trilogy written by Anne Rice under the pen name A.N. Roquelaure, or any stories by Donna George Storey or Rachel Kramer Bussel. Just stay away from this triple crap.

*UPDATE*: Thanks to the many other perturbed readers who have shared their own choices of the most annoyingly overused phrases in this masterpiece. Following up on their suggestions with my ever-useful Kindle search function, I have discovered that Ana says “Jeez” 81 times and “oh my” 72 times. She “blushes” or “flushes” 125 times, including 13 that are “scarlet,” 6 that are “crimson,” and one that is “stars and stripes red.” (I can’t even imagine.) Ana “peeks up” at Christian 13 times, and there are 9 references to Christian’s “hooded eyes” and 7 to his “long index finger.” Characters “murmur” 199 times and “whisper” 195 times (doesn’t anyone just talk?), “clamber” on/in/out of things 21 times, and “smirk” 34 times. Finally, in a remarkable bit of symmetry, our hero and heroine exchange 124 “grins” and 124 “frowns”… which, by the way, seems an awful lot of frowning for a woman who experiences “intense,” “body-shattering,” “delicious,” “violent,” “all-consuming,” “turbulent,” “agonizing” and “exhausting” orgasms on just about every page.

Where to start with this?

The success of this book baffles me. While I am not an avid reader of “erotic fiction,” I have read some, and everything that I’ve read is so much better than this, it’s ridiculous. If you’re contemplating buying this book, here’s what the book is, if this helps you make a decision:
- Take Stephenie Meyer’s ham-handed, awkward writing and turn down the “quality” dial about four – maybe five – notches. Romance novel readers can look at it this way – the writing is about two levels worse than the worst Harlequin romance you’ve ever read.
- Add in a Stephenie Meyer-esque heroine, a woman so boring it is hard to imagine how anyone – much less an extremely rich, sophisticated, smart, experienced dominant – would ever see anything the least bit interesting in her. Just like Bella in the Twilight novels, Anastasia is mostly just a cipher, a complete blank that women can project themselves onto. She’s not that smart, she’s not that funny, she has very pedestrian beliefs, goals and ambitions, she has standard mommy-didn’t-love-me and divorced-parent issues. Actually, Anastasia is Bella, just this time around she gets into sex.
- Add in some clumsily-written sex scenes and a whole lot of mostly inaccurate, overblown information about BDSM. Then couch the sex scenes in a whole lot of very boring dialogue and “plot” (mainly consisting of the main characters’ emails to each other – is there anything more boring than reading someone else’s emails?) so there can at least be a pretense that there is a story here, and that the book isn’t just bad BDSM erotica.
Part of my problem with the book is the poor quality, including everything I’ve mentioned above. My other main problem with the book is just how unbelievable the story and the characters are. There are very few experienced doms out there who get involved with uninitiated subs this way. There are very few doms with Christian’s resources that have to resort to uninitiated partners, no matter how “fascinating” (not) they are – they can pretty much purchase as much experience and expertise in their partners as they need, and generally, they need and want a lot of experience – bringing someone up to their level takes time and effort and becomes boring pretty quickly. I would actually caution women who might be interested in this kind of arrangement with a dominant, now that they’ve read the book – experienced doms who look for uninitiated subs do not usually have good intentions of bringing someone along into the lifestyle slowly, and buying them cars and computers. It’s something people should steer clear of, not seek out.
I don’t know. I guess if this gets some housewives hot and bothered and spices up their bedroom life, there’s no harm in it. Husbands everywhere will probably get some awesome experiences out of this whole temporary BDSM-lite erotic-fiction craze. But, the really tragic thing is that there are authors of erotic fiction out there, who have been working for a long time, who actually have – you know – WRITING SKILLS – who will never be as rich or as famous as the woman who wrote this very lackluster book that is getting all kinds of unwarranted attention, for no good reason.
If readers of this are really interested in this whole BDSM erotic-fiction thing, without the thinly-veiled, poorly-constructed romance subtext, I highly recommend the Sleeping Beauty series that Anne Rice wrote under a pen name, A.N. Roquelaure. The first one, The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, is available for Kindle here on Amazon. It’s much better written, overall, than this book, and also much more creative (and thus, much hotter).

Simply outstanding!

Shades of Gray is a strikingly original and deeply moving story with an astonishing twist at the end. Andy Holloman renders brilliantly the tale of John Manning, a loving father and a reputable business man, whose incursion in the drug world fundamentally changes his life. Holloman makes his debut as a novelist by taking both his characters and readers on a journey where they equally experience tenderness, frustration, pain and truth. A raw, honest and captivating book that would make a great script for a movie!

Andy Holloman weaves a tale of intrigue in his novel “Shades of Gray”. His characters are multidimensional and find themselves in situations that challenge their own attitudes and goals. What starts out as decisions that seemingly make sense and can be rationalized, spin rapidly out of control. The reader is taken on a bumpy, twisting ride through an increasingly sordid affair that can only guarantee heartbreak. An excellent read.

A must read FIRST novel

What an honour to have been given the opportunity to read an ARC Andy Holloman’s debut novel, “Shades of Gray” – and what a great read it was. I was so absorbed in what was going to happen I couldn’t put it down, so finished it in 2 days!!
The story takes us on the journey of John Manning, devoted Father, coping with the realities of life and finding himself in the unpredictable world of drugs. Drawing on his own background, Andy delivers a thoughtful and at times heartbreaking thriller.
Fantastic read and a must for everyone’s reading list

I am back on line to buy another pair. These tweezers have been used every day….yes I am a plucker…I cannot stand a stray hair & my eyebrow hairs are tough to yank. These tweezers get the hard ones, the fine ones, the ones you can feel but cannot see…the ones that may not be out enough to pluck…no hair is a match for these pretty pink tweezers. I will tell you that I did keep these tweezers in the box in my make up case- until the box became useless and then I use to wrap them in a cloth for cleaning eye glasses. No other tweezers I have ever owned received such care…I didn’t toss them in my handbag like my drugstore tweezers. They were treated with reasonable care. I did drop them on my tile floor a few times & in the sink..but they kept on plucking. My biggest challenge was retreiving them from my daughter, who has since requested a pair as a Xmas present. About a month ago I did notice they were not pulling all hairs on the first try & then the fine hairs became harder to grasp. Today my frustration grew to the point where I knew I had to pull out my credt card & buy another pair. I was hoping to find an address to send them in to be sharpened (so that I could have 2 pair)- something I never even considered with my other tweezers..but alas that doesn’t seem to be an option so I guess I’ll add these to my cart & hope they arrive quickly before my eyebrows become bushes. I loved these tweezers & I agree $28 is a lot to spend…but when you consider all the other ones I have bought over the years and I have a drawer full including Tweezerman, Revlon Precision, Revlon pointed, slant, straight, splinter, round tip, precision splinter, diamond tip and a host of ones that are only sold at the beauty supply- all were a waste of money compared to these….I really feel my splurge on these have actually been a bargain! 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I’ve only had them for 2 months but I was doing well with them and I thought they were pretty darn good for a pair of tweezers but after the alignment went off, I was just angry that I had spent $30 on a pair of tweezers and I have to buy a new pair. It’s funny becase I don’t remember having so many problems with tweezers until recently. I have written 3 reviews in a few short months. I bought a less expensive pair to replace them. At least I know if they don’t work out, I can always go back to the anstasia but I am not sure these were any better than a good pair of rubis or tweezermans. They all seem good at first. Cost effective alternative

These batteries are a very good choice for an inexpensive alkaline. Heavy duty batteries, are not cost effective because although cheaper, they have a very short run time. To get the best bang for your buck, go for alkalines like these.

The “Procell” designation is basically Duracell’s way of marking these batteries as ones intended for industrial applications. They make them as a separate line so they won’t directly compete with their consumer lines.

My experience is that these batteries do not last quite as long as the top consumer lines from Duracell and Energizer. However, they are within 10-20% (depending on the application), and are considerably cheaper. So, they are much more cost effective.

Unless you are using them in an application where it is difficult to change the batteries, I recommend going with these instead of spending more.

Over-hyped — not a good battery

I ordered several boxes of AA and AAA size Duracell Procells because I wanted to replace batteries in many different devices less often. Some are indoor, some are outdoor, all various consumer devices, slow drain and high drain. After going though at least half of them now–at least a couple of dozen since December ’09, I can say for sure that they last far less than half the time of any other good quality battery. Copper-top Duracells, Energizer Max, Rayovac Alkaline, etc. all have lasted much longer (in the same devices) in my experience. The Procells I have have a 2016 expiration date, so ‘old batteries’ isn’t the problem. I think these batteries are for professionals/companies who have lots of equipment and have to change batteries often anyway and can’t keep track of all of it closely, so that they don’t notice how quickly these batteries expire. Anyone that pays attention to run-life and overall cost of replacing batteries wouldn’t keep buying these.

I know of these kind of batteries because when I worked a telemetry floor as a nurse and ICU we used them on the patients’ portable monitors. They last long and are great!

Those are genuine second-generation eneloop cells – as far as I can tell By NLee the Engineer I have done extensive testing on the original eneloop rechargeable batteries since early 2007, shortly after they were introduced in the US. I have also tested the blue second-generation eneloop cells from the Costco eneloop package back in 2010. But this is the first time I have seen second-gen eneloop in white wrappings being sold in the US. With so much talk about counterfeit eneloop going around, I was understandably cautious when I purchased those SANYO NEW 1500 eneloop 8 Pack AA Ni-MH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries. I tested four of those cells, using my old La Crosse BC-900 Battery Charger. - Right out of the package, their average remaining charge is 1568mAh, or nearly 80% of the rated capacity of 2000mAh. The spread is also very small, from 1558 to 1577mAh. This proves that they are indeed low-self-discharge type. (Date code on my cells says “11-01″, or Jan 2011) - After one recharge/discharge cycle, their average capacity improved to 2115mAh - After two more recharge/discharge cycles, their average capacity leveled off at 2133mAh, or more than 6% higher than the rated capacity. The above results are very consistent with what I have previously observed, while testing second-gen eneloop cells in the Costco package. Therefore I’m convinced that those are indeed genuine second-gen Sanyo eneloop cells. (See the scans I uploaded to Images section, if you need to distinguish between old and new eneloop cells) On the other hand, currently the prices of those new eneloop cells are about 25-50% higher than that of the original eneloop cells. So one may question: do the new eneloop cells offer sufficient improvement over the old, to justify the price different? Let’s compare the following factors: - Cycle Life: The 2nd-gen eneloop claims to “recharge up to 1500 cycles”, while the original only claims 1000 cycles. This 50% improvement looks great on paper, but note that if you recharge your eneloop cells twice every week, it will take 10 years to reach 1000 cycles. So in real life, most average users will never notice the difference. - Self-Discharge Rate: The new eneloop cells claim to “maintain 75% charge after 3 years”, while the original only claims “80% after 2 years”. Again, in real life most people will never notice the difference. - Capacity: First-gen eneloop AA cells have “Typ 2000mAh, Min 1900mAh” printed on them, while 2nd-gen eneloop AA cells only say “Min 1900mAh”. But in fact they have the same capacity rating of 2000mAh (typical) according to official Sanyo web site. My measured capacity numbers are actually around 2100mAh for both versions. BOTTOM LINE: Both the new and old eneloop cells are excellent products. You can safely mix and match them in any application, and probably nobody can tell the difference in the next 10 years. But in case you can’t decide which version is a better value… Just flip a coin and pick one – you can’t lose either way! [Update on July 31, 2011] Long term self-discharge data: I have tested a pair of new eneloop AA cells after 104 days sitting on the shelf (the batteries, not me). The average remaining charge is 88.7%. Eneloops do the job. By D. Sims I put two Eneloop AA batteries into my Kodak Easyshare C182 digital camera. I took flash photos one after another, in order to drain the batteries. I counted 250 photos before the low-battery warning automatically shut off the camera. That’s a pretty good number of photos from one set of batteries. I’d never have gotten anywhere near that many with alkalines. And you can recharge these Eneloops up to 1500 times, so maybe one set of Eneloop AA batteries will let me take, eventually, more than 350,000 photos. If I take 20 photos each day, then two batteries would let me take photos for about 48 years. Four would suffice for a lifetime. The camera will wear out before the batteries do. I bought 32 of them, just in case there are other things that need AA batteries, also. And I bought 28 AAA size Eneloop batteries, too. 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Mcclanahan I’m pretty sure I’ve reviewed these Eneloop batteries before but I use them so much and like them so much – I think they deserve another 5-star review! I’m not sure what’s NEW about these batteries, but they seem to be just as good as the previous Eneloops. First, I’ve got about two dozen of these batteries in daily use. I’ve Never had one fail to take a charge and I’m sure I’ve cycled some of these well over 250 times. I use them in remote controls, professional Nikon flash units, high powered LED flashlights (like the Fenix TK-40 which uses 8 AA cells) and many other applications. I only charge them with this charger: Maha PowerEx MH-C808M Ultimate Professional Charger – available on Amazon. This model charges AAA, C, And D batteries as well. There is an AA-only model for a little less. I think the charger is the key to long life. Some chargers keep charging or charge at such a high rate that they batteries overheat and fail prematurely. Sanyo claims these batteries will hold at least 80% of their charge for a year. I actually tested this with two batteries. I brought them to a full charge and let them sit for a full year. Then I tested them with my tester (ZTS Multi Battery Tester – ZTS MBT-1). They both showed 80 percent. Most NiMh batteries would be totally dead after sitting for an entire year.
