Excellent lighter
By Jeff
This is a pipe lighter–it has a removable “fuel tank” with which you may light a pipe (or campfire–anything that requires “distance” from your hand and the capacity to tip the flame like a candle). It is windproof, as long as you have the “chimney slide” type thing choked up and the wick trimmed. It is to an outstanding degree fuel-efficient, due to it is distinguishable fuel tank cap and built-in snuffer that seals around the top of the tank when closed. It is lightweight. I think it’s either made of steel or tin, but whatsoever it is, it’s light.
It is without apparent effort maintained–all you ever have to do is replace the flints (and wicks, periodically. It accepts Zippo brand wicks in a pinch). Replacing the flints is much more comfortable than it is on a Zippo; all you have to do is press on the release catch on the bottom and swing out the innards, which stay in one piece (no stupid tiny little screws to lose).
Using it always seems to impress friends and coworkers–it just has a neat, swing-out ignition method that always catches people’s attention. So if you want to look cool, buy these lighters.
CONS:
It rusts without apparent effort if exposed to water and not dried thoroughly.
It has “poky” corners that may be uncomfortable and may tear holes in thin pockets.
If it gets soaked in a stream, it won’t work till you let it arid out completely, and then it will in all likelihood only work for a little while due to the liquid being washed out/diluted by the water.

Forget Zippo
By Eastcheap
…IMCO lighters are more reliable, don’t leak, actually stay lit in wind, and cost less. I have one that my grandfather picked up “over there” closely ninety years ago that still gets the occupation done.
If I have any complaint at all, it’s that the things chew up flints gorgeous quickly. In exchange, however, you get one heck of a spark that fires the wick firstborn time, each time.

works well
By adjective
While commodious for many, and remunerative for the makers (and shareholders,) the disposable lighter is an appalling waste of energy and materials. I purchased one of these a few weeks ago after tiring of throwing out the disposables. Now the only consumables are the flints and the fluid.
As for the design, it is almost perfect. I find it particularly neat that you may pull the reservoir out of the housing to use as a candle, and the striking mechanism is brilliant as well. One minor complaint is that the flimsy adaptable wind shield got loose and in the long run fell off; it seems to be something of an afterthought. For such a low price, however, this is not a big deal.
