Specifications: The Toshiba Mini NB305 is one of the latest generation of netbooks from the company (at the time of writing). It comes with assorted upgrades in specs, design and performance. It now has an Intel N450 Atom processor (1.66Ghz) that is much more energy effective that older models. There is 250GB for storage and 1GB of DDR2 RAM. For graphics, there is the Intel GMA 3150 graphics card. One of the remarkable features upgrade on the Toshiba Mini is the set of built-in stereo speakers (some of the older models only comes with mono speakers). Other features include 802.11b/g/n wi-fi, an 85-key keyboard, multi-touch track pad, and a memory card reader. This model runs on the Windows XP OS.

Design: The Toshiba Mini NB305-N310 has a textured surface on it is external casing. Upon closer inspection, you will detect a good deal of fine line patterns on the background (called ‘Matrix’ pattern). It measures at 10.47 x 7.57 x 1.43 inches and weighs just 2.6 pounds. Overall, the new design looks a little sleeker than the older models. It is available in a potpourri of colors (black, blue, etc).

Features & Performance: Thanks to the new processor, the battery on the Toshiba Mini NB305-N310 may now last up to 11 hours on one full charge. That could be one full day’s of work without the need to find a power socket. Another remarkable feature is it is full-sized 85-key keyboard. Typing on netbooks has always been an issue and Toshiba has managed to come up with a keyboard that feels very much like typing on a regular sized keyboard. The battery life and the keyboard alone is sufficient to some people to get one of these netbooks. At the moment, the Toshiba Mini NB305-N310 is retailing at around $348 each.

Believe it – best speakers I own

I saw the C-Net review, and yup, these live up to it. I use these with my little tiny re-furbed 8gb fuze. The sound is broad, deep and very full. Lots of bass, treble and mid-tones. The sound fills the room. If you have concrete walls it will rock your space from end to end. Panel covered walls, regarding 3/4 the distance. Outside, these things are just amazing. They look cool, charge up quickly and use a standard mini-usb. You don’t have to use both at once, but you will want to because they are ‘real’ stereo as opposed to two speakers that just repeat the same sound. And they are very, very clear and sweet.

They weigh closely not one thing and tuck up into an egg shape. The magnets that hold them together are very strong. I haul these around in my purse all day and they do not come apart. There is no storage compartment for the little charging cord (which also connects the speakers). The cord is in regards to the size of a general set of ear buds and wraps up nicely around the speakers if you want to do that. Keep it where you keep your ear buds.

There just is not one thing else like these. The iHomes are clones of this design, more expensive, and they don’t have the bass these do. These are made in Singapore by Xmi Pte Ltd and gathered in China. The x-mini is their basi design. I have seen these cloned a lot, but not one thing sounds like these.

So for a little amount of cash you may get a badly cool set of speakers to carry around in your bag! I got rid of a logitech blade to get these. These are not rather as deafening as the blade but it’s OK.

Special bonus – these come with an further and added cord you may use to attach other X-minis to! You may make your own x-mini parade of dancing little egg things and put them anywhere. I am not sure if you improve the sound by doing that, but you surely disseminate it around more. Plus it looks goofy. You may attach another set of these or up to (I think) 16 of the single x2s. They are the kind of thing you want to gather – they work, are actually small, and are rechargeable so I may see this catching on.

The egg shaped ones are getting harder to find. I in all likelihood paid less for these than you will here on Amazon. When I shopped for prices I just went with an Amazon prime shipper because it worked out to be less. I did detect other places had sold out or were waiting on replenishment. So if you see them, grab them. If you don’t like it you may in all likelihood resell these for what you salaried for them or perchance a little more if they stay popular. I think they will.

Wish there was a volume control

Already had X-Mini II speakers and read reviews on the X-Mini MAX II that spoke of an in-line volume control in the USB cable. Unfortunately these speakers do not have an on-board volume control like the X-Mini II nor does the cable include the USB cable with the volume control. As I have these speakers connected to a source without a volume control there is no control over the volume.

I love the speakers but I am very disappointed that this version does not include the USB cable with the volume control.

Just be forewarned, there are plainly at least 2 versions of the X-Mini Max II; one with a volume control in the cable and one without. This is the version without.

Nice but fragile

I purchased the X mini speakers a few months ago. Initially the sound was a good crisp and deafening for the little package. In the waning months however, the speaker on one side had a short and the other one had a scaled down sound before ultimately dying altogther. This also may be the reason why the other side which was piercing thought it had a short in it, likewise died. I had intially commended this product to a couple of friends but I regrettably will have to retract my praise of the product. I am not looking for another product elsewhere.
