There are only three (3) possible answers to this questions:

1.There are no sheer standards of right and wrong;

2. I will determine my own sheer standards of right and wrong; or

3. Absolute standards of right and faulty are percentage of the ample life.

1. There are no sheer standards of right and wrong.

Without sheer standards there could be no existence. Everything would be at random. We would have total confusion. We would never know what would come next. One moment there would be no gravity. The next moment there would be crushing gravity. One moment there would be no sun. Then out of nowhere the sun would be very bright. Every natural law we now depend on would be totally useless. Material and biological life would be impossible.

2. I will determine my own sheer standards of right and wrong.

This would put us in the jungle. We would live like animals. We would not be any better than apes. We would be controlled by our instincts and appetites. We would have no soul or goal. We would have no will to improve our lives. There would be total confusion. Life would be one of fight or flight. We would have no peace. Everything would fall to pieces. There would be no social order. We would invent a monster that would turn on us.

3. Absolute standards of right and defective are portion of the ample life.

Thank God, we do have sheer standards that give us a harmonic universe. Because of this, everything in our universe works with precision. This carries over into our moral life. The 10 Commandments are our sheer standards of right and wrong. The basi 4 are dealing with our kinship to our Creator-Redeemer God. The Last 6 are dealing with our kinship to others. The firstborn 4 may be summed up in, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.” The last 6 are summed up in, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” The 10 Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17; Deuteronomy 5:6-21; Romans 13:8-10) with other references are as follows:

1. You shall have no other gods before the Lord your God. (Deuteronomy 6:4, 5; Mark 12:28-34; John 10:24-39)

2. You shall not create, worship or serve a graven effigy or any likeness of any thing in heaven above, in the world beneath, or in the waters under the earth. (Romans 1:18-32)

3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. (Matthew 7:15-23)

4. Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. (Matthew 12:8-12; Colossians 2:6-17)

5. Honor your father and mother. (Mark 7:10-13; Ephesians 6:1-4)

6. You shall not kill. (Matthew 5:21, 22)

7. You shall not commit adultery. (Matthew 5:27-32)

8. You shall not steal. (Leviticus 19:11-17; Matthew 19:18)

9. You shall not bear untrue witness versus your neighbor. (Proverbs 25:18; Matthew 15:19)

10. You shall not covet (desire) what belongs to your neighbor. (Micah 2:2; Roman 7:7)
