Using an RV to travel around the country is a outstanding way to have short holidays with the family. It offers the ease of your home but minus numerous of the electrical appliances. Some RV owners will fetch along their daily home electrical instrumentation such as television, computer, microwave, Nintendo Wii etc on the road with them. However, due to the fixed power on board, the number of gimmicks you may operate at one time is limited. Alternatively, you may have a more prominent power output for your vehicle by installing solar RV panels. These panels may be bolted on the roof of the vehicle or as a stationary unit. For a stationary system, the solar array may be set up when the RV is parked. In actual fact, a portable solar scheme is rather simple. The main elements are the solar panels, charge controller, battery units and power inverter. The panels are made from little Photovoltaic (PV) cells which have a natural tendency to invent electric current when exposed to sun light. The current will then be used by the charge controller to charge the deep cycle batteries. Since batteries will only store Direct Current (DC), the power inverter is used to modify the DC to Alternate Current (AC). The AC from the inverter may then be applied to run all the progressed electronic appliances you’ve brought along in your RV. There are 2 choices how you may have the solar panels on your RV. Option one is to buy a readymade system from the market. Unfortunately, the scheme may be rather expensive. A 330 watt setup will cost you upwards of $2700. As a for less alternative, you may build the scheme by purchasing the parts on your own and set it up thru a Do It Yourself (DIY) approach. A homemade solar system for your RV will cost you less than $500. |
