Simply put, it works, and does it is occupation well.

This basic Weller 25 Watt Soldering Iron Kit does incisively what it should: it solders, and for a basic soldering iron, it does it is occupation well. It’s an necessary tool for a beginner, basic hobbyist or for the toolkit of a seasoned pro to replace an older version (and yes, have owned a few over the years). It heats up to when it comes to the commended temperature of 750 degrees F, and has a heat-resistant handle that has been a trademark of this tool for years.

It includes three nickel-plated tips: a intimate chisel point, a pencil point, and a flat screwdriver tip. It has a stainless steel barrel, an betterment of the much older models that Weller employed to make. And yes, they do last for years.

Good for General Consumer Use but, Not for Finer Electronics Work

This is a good, inexpensive, consumer-oriented standard aim soldering iron for tasks such as automotive and household wiring and medium-sized electronic factor work such as that antiquate Grundig reel-to-reel tape player you picked up at a yard sale. The included “soldering aid” tool is handy for straightening or bending wires and element leads. If you can, I suggest you pick this up at Wally-World – you’ll pay local sales tax but, you’ll save shipping costs and time.

The Weller brand from Cooper Handtools is outstanding. [...] But, make sure you perceive that this peculiar kit – the SP23LK – is a consumer-grade item. For finer electronics work and more or less innovative tasks such as “through-hole” and “surface mount technology” soldering and desoldering, the operating temperature of this iron is much too high and the included and available tips are much too large.) If you’re just starting out in electronics and are even just somewhat severe with regards to it, the SP23 is NOT the iron to begin out on – you’ll in all likelihood become quickly frustrated, burn up some components, not learn good soldering techniques, and wind up tossing the iron and your new sparetime activity or profession. If your budget may afford it and you think you’ll be spending a reasonable amount of time working with electronics, consider a “soldering station” such as the Weller WES51 Analog Soldering Station, Power Unit, Soldering Pencil, Stand and Sponge (outstanding price on Amazon, even with shipping!).

Otherwise, the Weller SP23LK is a good consumer-grade frequent intention kit not intended for severe electronics work. I rate it 4-out-of-5-stars only because there are various other evenly competent usual aim irons out there.

A cheap solder is a cheap solder. It does it is job. I purchased it to fix an emerald bracelet and I was successful. I saved a lot of cash fixing it myself than paying a jeweler…
